Pulmonary veins are thin-walled blood vessels. The difference between the pulmonary veins and other veins is that they carry oxygenated blood as opposed to other veins, which carry de-oxygenated blood.
Function:
The pulmonary vein carries the essential function of bringing the oxygenated blood from the lungs back to the heart (left auricle).
The pulmonary vein includes the right and left pulmonary veins.
The right pulmonary vein brings the oxygenated blood from the right lung, and the left pulmonary vein gets the blood from the left lung.
