Hindbrain

1. The hindbrain comprises the cerebellum, pons, and medulla oblongata.
2. In the cerebellum, the cortex region is greyish in color due to the presence of cell bodies of the neurons, whereas the inner region is whitish in color due to the myelination of axon nerve fibers. This gives the appearance of a branched tree.

Function:

1. The cerebellum helps in maintaining balance and posture.
2. It also helps in coordinating voluntary skeletal activities like walking, running, etc.
