Tissue is a group of cells that are similar in structure and are organised together to perform a specific task.
Different types of tissues can be found in different organs. In humans, there are four basic types of tissues: epithelial, connective, muscular and nervous tissue.
1. Epithelial Tissue: It serves functions of protection, secretion and absorption; lines and covers surfaces.
2. Connective tissue: gives shape to organs, protects, supports, bind together and holds them in place.
3. Muscular tissue: produce force and cause motion, either locomotion or movement within internal organs.
4. Nervous tissue: receive stimuli and conduct impulses.
Plant tissues are categorized broadly into three tissue systems: the epidermis, the ground tissue, and the vascular tissue.
1. Epidermis: Cells forming the outer surface of the leaves and of the young plant body.
2. Vascular tissue: The primary components of vascular tissue are the xylem and phloem. These transport fluid and nutrients internally.
3. Ground tissue:Ground tissue manufactures nutrients by photosynthesis and stores reserve nutrients.
