  • Ozone (O3) is an allotropic form of oxygen found in the upper layer of the atmosphere about 20 Km away from the surface of the earth.
  • It is formed from oxygen in the presence of sunlight.
  • It protects our earth in many ways; it prevents ultraviolet (UV) rays from entering our atmosphere which could cause skin cancer in humans.
  • It also protects our eyes as exposure to the UV rays can lead to blindness.
