Ozone ( $O_{3}$ ) is an allotropic form of oxygen found in the upper layer of the atmosphere about 20 Km away from the surface of the earth.
It is formed from oxygen in the presence of sunlight.
It protects our earth in many ways; it prevents ultraviolet (UV) rays from entering our atmosphere which could cause skin cancer in humans.
It also protects our eyes as exposure to the UV rays can lead to blindness.
