Solution

Write algebraic expression of statement, x is multiplied by itself and then added to the product of x and y and identify it as monomial, binomial or trinomial.

An expression that contains only single term is known as monomial.

An expression that consist of two terms is known as binomial.

An expression that contains three terms is known as trinomial.

Now,

x is multiplied by itself.

x×x=x2

The product of x and y is,

x×y=xy

Then, according to question, sum of x2 and xy is,

x2+xy

Identify the above expression as monomial, binomial or trinomial.

The obtained expression consist of two terms, so it is a binomial.

Therefore, the obtained algebraic expression is x2+xy and it is a binomial.
