Solution

Calculate the H.C.F of the smallest composite number and the smallest prime number.

The numbers that has more than two factors are called a composite number

The numbers that has only two factors that is one and the number itself are called prime numbers.

Now,

Smallest composite number =4

Smallest prime number=2

Prime factorization of 4 and 2 is,

4=2×22=1×2

Determine HCF4,2.

HCF4,2=1×2=2

Thus, H.C.F of the smallest composite number and the smallest prime number is 2.
