Question

Write the HCF of smallest composite number and smallest prime number

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Smallest prime number = 2

Smallest composite number = 4

Factors of 2 are 1 and 2, As 2 = 1*2

Factors of 4 are 1, 2 and 4, As 4 = 1*2*2

Highest common factor (HCF) of 4 and 2 = 2

Therefore HCF of smallest composite number and smallest prime number is 2.

Note that 1 is neither a composite number nor a prime number.
