Forests provide us with

wood - that can be used for construction, manufacturing paper, as fire fuel etc

silk, fruits and nuts, resins, gums etc

They prevent soil erosion, increase percolation of rain water.

They help in increasing the rainfall or precipitation due to transpiration

Forests help reduction of $C{O}_2$ in the atmosphere, maintain the microflora of the soil and help reduce effects of global warming
