Importance of synthetic polymers:

• Nylon is a synthetic polymer also known as polyamides. It forms a hydrogen bonding with water Nylon gets engaged in hydrogen bonding with water used to make plastics, used in flooring, siding, pipes etc.
• Polyvinyl chloride or PVC is used for construction as PVC is stronger and cheaper than others employed in pipes.
• Acrylic polymer is used to make sweaters and shawls.
• Polycarbonate is used to make compact disks.
• Polyethene terephthalate is used to make soda bottles.
• Polystyrene is used to make CD cases.
