Open in App
Solution

The additive inverse of a number x is the number that when added to x yields zero.

It is given that there is a number which is 2 less than its additive inverse. So, the difference between the number and its additive inverse is 2.

The additive inverse of 1 is -1.

Difference between 1 and (-1) = 1 - (-1) = 1 + 1 = 2

So, -1 is 2 less than 1.

Hence, -1 is the required number.
