The longest chain in the compound of propane and the substituent is benzene or Phenyl ring.
General rules fro IUPAC nomenclature of organic compounds:-
1. The longer chain of carbon atoms should be taken as the parent Hydrocarbon.
2. The functional group, while numbering the parent Hydrocarbon, should be given the most priority.
3. The carbon containing the functional group should have the lowest number possible.
4. If 2 functional groups are present, the one that is more oxidised will be given higher priority.
