Location -

  1. Thylakoids are interconnected disc-like sacs of the internal membrane system of the chloroplast.
  2. They are found suspended in the stroma.
  3. Thylakoids are arranged in a stack, which is called grana.

Function-

  1. The thylakoid membrane contains the photosynthetic pigment chlorophyll, which absorbs the sunlight during photosynthesis.
  2. It provides the platform for the light reactions of photosynthesis.
