NaMgandAlNOandF

Solution

Nine chemical compounds:

1.Na2O Sodium oxide

  • Sodium has a valency of 1 and oxygen has 2. hence two sodium atoms are needed to combine with one oxygen atom

2.MgO Magnesium dioxide

  • Magnesium has a valency of 2 and oxygen has 2. hence one magnesium atom is needed to combine with one oxygen atom

3.Al2O3 Aluminium trioxide.

  • Aluminum has a valency of 3 and oxygen has 2. hence two aluminum atoms are needed to combine with three oxygen atoms

4.NaF Sodium Fluoride

  • Sodium has a valency of 1 and fluorine has a valency of 1. hence one sodium atom can combine with one fluorine atom.

5.MgF2 Magnesium difluoride

  • Magnesium has a valency of 2 and fluorine has a valency of one. hence one magnesium atom is needed to combine with 2 fluorine atoms

6.AlF3 Aluminium trifluoride

  • Aluminum has a valency of 3 and fluorine has 1. hence three fluorine atoms are needed to combine with one aluminum atom

7.NaNO3 Sodium nitrate

  • Here, Nitrate is an ion that contains both nitrogen and oxygen atoms, nitrogen shares 5 electrons with oxygen, and the valency of one oxygen is -2 hence, the total charge of the ion is 5 + -6 = -1
  • Nitrate ion with valency one combines with one sodium atom with valency one to form sodium nitrate.

8.Mg(NO3)2 Magnesium nitrate

  • Here, Nitrate is an ion that contains both nitrogen and oxygen atoms, nitrogen shares 5 electrons with oxygen, and the valency of one oxygen is -2 hence, the total charge of the ion is 5 + -6 = -1
  • Two Nitrate ions with valency one combined with one magnesium atom with valency 2 to form magnesium nitrate.

9.Al(NO3)3 Aluminium nitrate

  • Here, Nitrate is an ion that contains both nitrogen and oxygen atoms, nitrogen shares 5 electrons with oxygen, and the valency of one oxygen is -2 hence, the total charge of the ion is 5 + -6 = -1
  • Three Nitrate ions with valency one combined with one aluminum atom with valency 3 to form aluminum nitrate.
