Solution

Alcohols have 'ol' suffix. Ethanol ( CH3CH3OH ) is alcohol with 2 carbon.
When ehanol is heated with excess concentrated sulphuric acid at 443 K, dehydration takes place and ethene is formed. In this reaction concentrated sulphuric acid acts as a dehydrating agent.
CH3CH3OH+H2SO4CH2CH2+H2O+H2SO4
