Write the name , colour and solubility of precipitate in excess of NaOH formed when-
1- Zinc Sulphate and
2- Ferric Chloride reacts sodium hydroxide

Zinc Sulphate
When sodium hydroxide solution is added drop by drop to zinc sulphate solution a white precipitate is formed which is soluble in excess of sodium hydroxide.
ZnSO4 + 2NaOH → Zn(OH)2 + Na2SO4
Zn(OH)2 + 2NaOH → Na2ZnO2 + 2H2O

Ferric Chloride

chloride reacts with sodium hydroxide to form iron(III) hydroxide and sodium chloride.

The balanced equation for the reaction between FeCl3 and NaOH is FeCl3 + 3NaOH -> Fe(OH)3 + 3NaCl. Since iron(III) chloride and sodium chloride are soluble in water, but not iron(III) hydroxide, the reaction causes a solid to be precipitated. As iron(III) hydroxide is brown, a brown precipitate is formed. Hence, this is known as a precipitation reaction.
