Solution

There are islet cells of Langerhans in the pancreas. The β- cells produce insulin. This hormone is responsible for the regulation of the blood sugar levels. The negative feedback mechanism is used to regulate the synthesis of insulin. When blood glucose levels rise, insulin is secreted by the pancreas. The insulin works by lowering the blood glucose by increasing its uptake in cells. It also helps by stimulating the liver to convert glucose to glycogen, in which form it can be stored. When the level of blood decreases, there is signal send to the cells of the pancreas to stop secreting insulin.
