Anion: A charged particle that carries a negative charge by gaining electrons from other atoms to attain noble gas configuration.
Example: Chlorine ( $Cl$ - 2,8,7 ) gains one electron to attain Argon ( $Ar$ - 2,8,8) gas configuration.
