Growth hormone

  1. Growth hormone levels are raised by sleep, stress, exercise, and low blood glucose levels. They also increase around the time of puberty.
  2. Growth hormone secretion is inhibited when the brain recognizes excessive levels of growth hormone or insulin-like growth factors in the blood.
  3. Under the supervision of two hypothalamic peptides, the anterior pituitary gland secretes growth hormone (GH) in a pulsatile manner.
