Chromosomes are thread-like structures present in the nucleus, made of proteins.
They contain genetic material DNA.
Each cell in the human body has 23 pairs of chromosomes. A total of 46 chromosomes out of which 44 are autosomes and 2 are sex chromosomes.
Chromosomes are first discovered by Strasbourg in 1815.
