Write the number of H atoms in a molecule of alkyne if the number of C atoms is four. What is the formula of this molecule?

The general formula of an Alkyne is CnH2n-2.

Where, n is the number of Carbon atoms in Alkyne compound and,

2n-2 tells about the number of Hydrogen atoms in an alkyne compound.

Step 2:

The number of Carbon atom is 4 so, n=4.

Substitute the value of n in 2n-2.

24-2=8-2=6

So, the number of Hydrogen atoms is 6.

The formula will be C4H6.
