Solution

(i) When ethene is passed through bromine solution in CCl4, the orange colour of bromine slowly disappears and decolourised ethylene bromide is formed as a product.

(ii) When Bayer's reagent (dilute or alkaline solution of potassium permanganate) reacts with ethene, its purple colour gets discharged slowly. The product formed is 1,2-ethanediol, which is colourless.
