Write the observation and result of the practical ' iron nails dipped in copper sulphate solution '.

When iron nail is dipped in the copper sulphate solution , iron being more reactive than copper . The iron will displace copper from its solution . The observations will be :
1) Reddish-brown deposit on the surface of nail .

2) Surface of the nail is found corroded.

3) The colour of the blue solution of the copper sulphate turns light green.
The reaction will be :
Fe + CuSO4 FeSO4 + Cu
The result of the above practical is :
It is displacement reaction and iron being reactive than copper will displace copper from its solution.
