Solution

Respiration:

  • The process in which the air moves into the body containing atmospheric gases during inhalation, and the air is released from the body containing harmful gases during exhalation is known as respiration.

Inhaled and Exhaled Gases:

  • The gases inhaled and exhaled during respiration include nitrogen, oxygen, argon, water vapor, and carbon dioxide.
  • The amount of oxygen is 21% in the atmospheric air inhaled during respiration. The amount of carbon dioxide is only 0.04 percent in the atmospheric air that is inhaled.
  • The carbon dioxide liberated from the body during exhalation is 4.4%, while oxygen is 16.4%.

Therefore, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is 0.04%, and exhaled air is 4.4%.
