Dear student,
The possible short term effects on environment of uttarakhand forest fires:
1. Loss of habitation of the wildlife.
2. High monsoon rainfall. It may lead to soil erosion.
3. Raise in water levels in water and streams.
Short-term effects finally lead to long-term effects.
The possible long term effects on environment of uttarakhand forest fires, includes:
1. Loss of insect population as a result of the fire. Since they are not able to withstand the intense heat during fire, it lead to their destruction. It leads to hampering of pollination.
2. Deterioration of the soil health. This occurs as a result of loss of insect population, because loss of insects makes the soil devoid of moisture and humus. Thus, it leaves the soil with no nutrients.
3. There is long-term loss of horticulture and agriculture, due to destruction of trees. It lead to a commercial loss.
4. Destruction of wildlife as a result of destruction of insects, trees and no pollination.
5. Melting of glaciers due to deposition of soot on the glaciers.
