PROCEDURE:

• Take some germinating seeds in a Thermos flask.
• Cover the flask with a cork.
• Insert the thermometer in the flask through the cork.
• Observe the rise in temperature after some time.

RESULTS:

As the seeds respire, heat will be produced due to release of carbon dioxide. Thus, the temperature in the thermometer will rise.

PRECAUTIONS:

• Thermos flask should be properly sealed so that no air enter it.
• Thermometer should be properly inserted else it will break.
• Leave the apparatus undisturbed for proper time as seeds will respire.
