Solution

Determine the Pythagorean triple.

A Pythagorean triple consists of three positive integersa,b, and c, such that a2+b2=c2. Here, a is the perpendicular, b is the base and c is the hypotenuse of the right-angled triangle.

Use the general formula of the Pythagorean triple.

2m,m21,m2+1

Consider the first value:

2m=4m=42m=2

Consider the second value:

m2+1=22+1=4+1=5

Consider the third value:

m2-1=22-1=4-1=3

Hence, the Pythagorean triplet is 3,4,and5.
