3 sin x - cos x = a3 sinx - cosx2 = a232 sinx - 12 cosx = a2 cos 30° sinx - sin 30° cosx = a2sin ( x - 30°) = a2 x - 30° = sin-1a2 x = sin-1a2 + 30°

If a = 2 or a =-2 , then the equation will possess a solution.
