In first figure,
Number of shaded square = 8
∴ Fraction for shaded portions = $\frac{8}{9}$

In second figure,
Number of shaded square = 5
∴ Fraction for shaded portions = $\frac{5}{9}$

In third figure,
Number of shaded square = 3
∴ Fraction for shaded portions = $\frac{3}{9}$

In fourth figure,
Number of shaded square = 6
∴ Fraction for shaded portions = $\frac{6}{9}$


Now the fraction we have are $\frac{8}{9}$, $\frac{5}{9}$, $\frac{3}{9}$, $\frac{6}{9}$.

As, 3 < 5 < 6 < 8
Therefore, ascending order of these fractions is $\frac{3}{9}$ < $\frac{5}{9}$ < $\frac{6}{9}$ < $\frac{8}{9}$
