Solution

The given equations are
$4 x + 2 y = 5$ ...(i)
$x - 2 y = 0$ ...(ii)
from (ii) equation, $x = 2 y$
$∴$ (i) becomes, $8 y + 2 y = 5 \Rightarrow 10 y = 5 \Rightarrow y = \frac{1}{2}$
$∴ x = 2 y = 2 \times \frac{1}{2} = 1$
Hence, $x = 1$ and $y = 2$
