Write the steps needed for flame test?

Following are the steps for flame test:
1. Dip a loop of a platinum wire in conc. HCl.
​2. Place the loop in the nonluminous part of the flame to check whether it imparts any colour to the flame. If it does impart colour to the flame then repeat this process till the wire does not impart any colour.
3. Make a paste of given salt with conc. HCl by mixing them in a watch glass.
4. Roll the loop of the platinum wire in the prepared paste. Then place it in the oxidising flame of the Bunsen burner and observe the colour change of the flame.
