Construction of Perpendicular Bisector of a Line Segment(Using Compass)
Write the ste...
Question
Write the steps of constructing a perpendicular to a given line from a point outside it.
Open in App
Solution
STEPS:
Draw a line segment AB and take any point P outside it.
Select a suitable radius such that when centred at P, the arc so drawn cuts AB in two distinct points, say X and Y.
Select an appropriate radius and taking X as center, draw an arc on the opposite side of P.
With the radius unchanged and centre at Y, draw another arc to cut the previous arc at M
Join PM, which is the required perpendicular.
