Structure and function of placenta:

1. Placenta is a disc like organ embedded in the uterine wall of the females.
2. It has villi on the embryo's side and on the mother are blood capillaries which surround the villi.​

Function :-

1. It provides a very large surface area for the exchange of glucose and oxygen.
2. It provides nourishment to the embryo.
3. It helps in the excretion and provides immunity to the foetus.
