Solution

Definition of IUPAC names

IUPAC nomenclature of organic chemistry is a method of naming organic chemical compounds as recommended by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry.

Step 1

  • ‘Prop’ means continuous chain with the maximum number of carbon atoms, here the chain is having 3 carbon atoms.

Step 2

  • There is no presence of substituent.

Step 3

  • The suffix ‘ene’ suggests a double bond(position 1) and unsaturated carbon is present : HC1=C2H-C3H3

Therefore, the structure is HC=CH-CH3
