While walking through the woods the speaker arrives at a place where two roads diverge. The speaker evaluates these two paths. One path appears less worn out but further introspection reveals that they are about the same. He chose the second path but he quickly acknowledges that he can never come back.
He reflects that some day he will tell this story with a sigh to his next generation and declare that he took the road less travelled by. This choice made all the difference in the path of life despite the two roads being identical.
