A wedge is a set of two inclined planes that meet up at a sharp edge and has the following uses:

  1. A wedge is used for splitting wood, carving, chiseling, etc.
  2. Knives, axes, forks, and nails used in our daily life are wedges.
  3. The bow or front of a boat is a wedge that allows the boat to move through the water very easily.
  4. Our front teeth, called incisors are wedges and help us to cut the food apart.
  5. A needle that helps us to stitch our clothes is also a wedge.
