Open in App
Solution

In a displacement reaction, the metals of high reactivity displace metals of low reactivity from their salt solution. Zinc is more reactive than copper so, it displaces copper from copper sulphate solution which is blue in colour, to form colourless zinc sulphate and copper. The reaction involved is:
Copper sulphate(aq) + Zinc(s) Zinc sulphate(aq) + Copper(s)
