Write the working of three types of wires used in domestic circuiting.

1. In domestic circuiting, wires of three colors are used; red, blue (or yellow), and green.
2. Red color wires represent live wire, blue or yellow color wires present neutral wire and green color wires represent earth wire.
3. Live wire is that wire which carries AC voltage that varies from -220 V to +220 V, 50 times in a second.
4. Neutral wire always remains at 0 volts. Hence when the connection is positive, electricity flows from live to neutral; when the live is negative, electricity flows from neutral to live. Thus the direction of the current changes fifty times a second.
5. Earth wire is connected to the outer body of the appliance through the earth pin. It offers safe passage to the flow of the current in case any electricity leaking to the outer body of the appliance.
