Solution

Step 1: We can write 0.2:0.8 as 0.20.8

Step 2: For removing decimal point, Multiply Numerator and denominator by 10, we get

0.2×100.8×10 =28

Step 3: Find the HCF of numerator 2 and denominator 8.

By the method of prime factorisation,

2=2×1

8=23×1

HCF(2,8)=2

Step 4: Divide both the numerator and denominator by HCF

2÷28÷2

14

Therefore, 0.2:0.8 can be expressed in simplest form as 1:4
