Solution

Venous blood from the digestive system is taken first to the liver then it is taken back to the heart unlike other systems, where veins carry impure blood directly back to the heart. This system comprises of three vital parts:- Hepatic portal vein, Splenic vein and Superior and inferior mesenteric veins.
So advantages of Hepatic portal vein are as follows:-
1) The hepatic portal system takes the absorbed nutrients from the digestive tract first to the liver to process them accordingly. After which they are released in normal circulation by the liver.
2) It helps in neutralizing toxic material absorbed by the digestive tract.
3) It helps in waste drainage from the pancreas.
4) It helps in venous drainage from the spleen.
