Write two properties each of a solution, suspension and a colloid with respect to stability and filterability.
Solution: A solution is a homogenous mixture of two or more substances. Example - sugar solution.
Suspension: A suspension is a solution in which the solute particles suspend at the bottom of the solution after being left untouched for some time. Example - mud in the water.
Colloid: A colloid is a solution in which the size of the solute particles is intermediate to that of a true solution and suspension. Example - milk.
Property | Solution | Suspension | Colloid |
Stability | Stable | Unstable | Stable |
Filterability | cannot be filtered | can be filtered | cannot be filtered |
