Write two solutions for each of the following equations:
(i) 3x+4y=7 (ii) x=6y (iii) x+πy=4 (iv) 23x−y=4
(i) Let x=0, then3×0+4y=7⇒ 0+4y=7⇒ 4y=7 ⇒ y=74∴ x=0, y=74 are the solutions of the equation.Let y=0, then3x+4×0=7 ⇒ 3x+0=7⇒ 3x=7⇒ x=73∴ x=73, y=0 are the solutions of the equation.
(ii) Let y=0, thenx=6×0=0∴ x=0, y=0x=0, y=0 are the solutions of the equation.Let y=1, thenx=6×1⇒x=6∴ x=6, y=1 are the solutions of the equation.
(iii) Let x=4, then4+π y=4⇒ π y=4−4=0∴ y=0∴ x=4, y=0 are the solutions of the equation.Let x=0, then0+π y=4⇒ π y=4⇒ y=4π∴ x=0, y=4π are the solutions of the equation.
(iv) Let x=0, then23×0−y=4⇒ 0−y=4⇒ −y=4⇒ y=−4∴ x=0, y=−4 are the solutions of the equation.Let y=0, then23x−0=4⇒23x=4⇒ x=4×32=6∴ x=6, y=0 are the solutions of the equation.
