Solution

Monomial is an algebraic expression containing only one term.
Binomial is an algebraic expression containing only two terms.
Trinomial is an algebraic expression containing only three terms.
(1) x2 − 5x + 6
The expression has only three terms.
∴ x2 − 5x + 6 is a trinomial.

(2) 7x
The expression has only one term.
∴ 7x is a monomial.

(3) 3a + 4b
The expression has only two terms.
∴ 3a + 4b is a binomial.

(4) y3 − 2y2 + 3
The expression has only three terms.
∴ y3 − 2y2 + 3 is a trinomial.

(5) 5m −7
The expression has only two terms.
∴ 5m −7 is a binomial.

(6) −4
The expression has only one term.
∴ −4 is a monomial.

(7) p2 − 2pq + 6q2
The expression has only three terms.
∴ p2 − 2pq + 6q2 is a trinomial.

(8) 9 − 4x
The expression has only two terms.
∴ 9 − 4x is a binomial.
