Open in App
Solution

(1) Two line segments are congruent if they are of equal length.
On measuring the lengths of AB and CD by a divider,
we find that length of AB = length of CD
∴ The line segments AB and CD are congruent.

(2) Two line segments are congruent if they are of equal length.
On measuring the lengths of LM and UV by a divider,
we find that length of LM ≠ length of UV.
∴ The line segments LM and UV are not congruent.

(3) Two line segments are congruent if they are of equal length.
On measuring the lengths of GH and EF by a divider,
we find that length of GH = length of EF.
∴ The line segments GH and EF are congruent.

(4) Two line segments are congruent if they are of equal length.
On measuring the lengths of LN and SM by a divider,
we find that length of LN ≠ length of SM.
∴ The line segments LN and SM are not congruent.
