Dear student, Features of Ganga River system are - 1) The headwaters of the Ganga, called the Bhagirathi is fed by the Gangotri Glacier. 2) Ganga flows eastwards till Farakka in West Bengal which is the northernmost point of the Ganga delta. 3) The length of the Ganga is over 2500 km. 4) River Ganga with River Brahmaputra forms world's largest Sunderban delta. 5) The Ganga is joined by many tributaries from the Himalayas, a few of them being major rivers such as the Yamuna, the Ghaghara, the Gandak and the Kosi. 6) Yamuna flows parallel to the Ganga and as a right bank tributary, meets the Ganga at Allahabad. 7) Three left bank and three right bank tributaries of the river Ganga: Left bank tributaries are Gomti, Gandhak. Koshi and righst bank are Yamuna , Son and Tamsa. 8) Haridwar is the place where river Ganga leaves the mountains to enter the plains. 9) Ganga river system represents dendritic pattern and is the largest basin in India. 10) It is also capable of producing hydro-electricity in huge amount.
