WXYZ is a parallelogram with XPWZ and ZQWX. If WX = 8 cm, XP = 8 cm, ZQ = 2 cm. Find YX.

Open in App
Solution

Area of parallelogram
= height×base
When base is WX
Then height is ZQ
Area = 8×2 …(i)
When base is ZW then height is XP
Area = ZW×XP …(ii)
Since, parallelogram is same hence area will also be same.
8×2=8×ZW
ZW = 2 (ZW = XY).
