the second step is not correct
Given that (x-1/2)*1/2=3/8when we multiply 1/2 into the bracket it becomes
X*1/2-1/2*1/2=3/8
X/2-1/4=3/8
If it is as (x-1)/2=3/8
Then it becomes...
X-1=3/4
