We have,
$(2 x - 5 y) (2 x - 5 y) = (2 x - 5 y)^{2} = (4 x)^{2} + (5 y)^{2} - 2 \times 2 x \times 5 y$
[using the identity, $(a - b)^{2} = a^{2} + b^{2} - 2 a b$ ] $= 16 x^{2} + 25 y^{2} - 20 x y$
