The candidates are X = {D, E, M, O, P}. Except O, for each other students, the information is given for at least 4 subjects. So grade point of 5th subject can be evaluated.
For O, Total grade point in remaining two subjects = 16 - 8 = 8.
There are two ways in which the two other grade points add up to 8 = 5 + 3 = 4 + 4.

Hence for 'O' the same cannot determined. Hence option (a)
