X was a device invented by John Kay in 1733. It was a hand-operated device that increased the speed of weaving cloth. Following the invention of X, two other devices were invented. After that, Y was invented by Samuel Crompton in 1779 which was a combination of the aforementioned two devices. This device, Y turned out to be more efficient than all of the previous inventions and could spin hundreds of threads simultaneously.
