Question

x2 – 6x + 7 = 0

Open in App
Solution

Given: x2 – 6x + 7 = 0
On comparing this equation with ax2 + bx + c = 0, we get:
a = 1, b = –6, c = 7
We know that the discriminant of a quadratic equation is Δ = b2 – 4ac.
On substituting a = 1, b = –6 and c = 7, we get:
Δ = (–6)2 – 4(1)(7)
=> Δ = 36 – 28 = 8
